3x - 2y = 6
3x = 6 + 2y
x = (6 + 2y) / 3
x = 2 + 2/3y

Answer: x = 2 + 2/3y

Proof (apply x to the original equation)
3(2 + 2/3y) - 2y = 6
6 + 2y - 2y = 6
6 = 6

ANSWER:

x= 2/3y + 2

how?

3x - 2y = 6

transpose -2y to the right thus changing its sign to +.

so:

3x = 6 + 2y

divide both sides by 3 thus leaving x on the left side to get x.

3x/ 3 = 2/3y + 6/ 3

so:

x = 2/3y + 2

3x - 2y = 6
3x - 2y + 2y = 2y + 6
3x = 2y + 6
3x/3 = (2y + 6)/3
x = (2/3)y + 6/3
x = (2/3)y + 2
