I used to do this- it seemed like a really good way to clean them out without sticking anything pointy in there that might scratch or poke.
The problem is that it severely dries out the delicate skin in your ears and messes up the ear wax (that is supposed to be catching dust and bacteria etc. before it gets into your ear).
So I don't recommend it- I got a very serious ear infection as a result and even once I got antibiotics I couldn't sleep for a week because the pain was so bad.

I know this Post is old, but do NOT do the ear candles. Most salons are discontinuing this. They do not work, tests show its a hoax. Google it. It's more dangerous any has no benefits. Hydrogen peroxide is fine for occasional use only.

Usually just Qtips. But I did have a slight ear ache once and was told to use peroxide because it would dry any moisture in your ear, which could have caused of the ear ache.

You're thinking of your baby, right? And you're looking for an answer here at YA? Ask your pediatrician. I've been told that ears clean themselves if you don't mess with them. Start cleaning them with anything and you'll spend the rest of your life needing to clean them. I'd Internet search it, if I were you, before asking certified "expert."

Use the self ear wax removal "kit" = Morine for Ears!
U can find it anywhere ... drug store - wal-mart- Walgreen's etc etc
If u got water in ur ears use rubbing alcohol - it's water soluble and draws the water to it - to the outside from the inside!!!

Yes, it's very effective if used with warm water and an ear syringe. Use just a tiny bit and apply very gentle pressure with the water; otherwise you'll damage your ears.
