has anyone seen a movie called"the pirate movie" and did you like it?

I just saw it and I want to know, 1 do people like it and2 was it popular(ish) when it came out

...it was like a sticky, sickly-sweet, pop-culture, cavity-inducing bubble-gum piece of fluff, but it was still pretty fun; it was definitely a far cry better version of Gilbert & Sullivan's hit Broadway play, "The Pirates of Penzance", than that fu-kok-ta friggin' sappily boring cinematic rendition regergitated by Kevin Kline and Linda Ronstadt, which came out a year later...

...an admitted guilty pleasure of mine...and those songs!!! Oh, those songs still resonate in my head, to the point of drool-inducing numbness...

..."How can I live without her, when she's all I'm living for..."
