They don't suck, I'm a Flyers' fan, and I'll tell you they don't suck. They just had a change of command-Yzerman's not there. They just gotta get the players with the experience and not depend upon younger guys. They were good when the 'Wings were good, well almost give or take several years. The Ducks got it done this year, b/c they had the Prongers, Niedermeyers (sp?), those sort of players. Its a hard NHL these days. I wouldn't be so hard on them. Weak division yeah, sure it seems like that's what everything is saying, but really I didn't know any other division is stacked? huh? in other words, there aren't any stacked divisions. In reality, if you root for the 49ers, why aren't you asking the same question about them? Though to compare the 'Wings to the 'Niners, is like comparing apples to oranges. To say they suck is like saying they're the worst team in the NHL, do you remember who I root for? If you do, then you have the answer to your question who really sucked this past year (Blackhawk fans don't take this personally-I know you had a tough year too).

the Red Wings are a great team, and without a doubt the most successful team over the past 10-12 years. I'm sure they've won more games than any other team over that time span. Also, they have 3 Stanley Cups in that time and went to the playoffs every year. Yes, they have had some flops in the playoffs, some disappointments. But that happens in all sports. They easily could have won 5 or 6 Stanley Cups instead of 3. Despite that, they've still been better than Colorado, New Jersey, Anaheim, Philadelphia, or any other team.

Look, you can say any team that does not win the Stanley Cup that season sucks. The Dead Things do suck in a way of late as they've been playoff flops.
Points is no way to measure team success esp. as Detroit gets 8 games each vs. StL, Chi and Clb as opposed to, say, Colo, Calg, Van.
It's Cups and long playoff runs as to how to measure a team's success.

Don't dis me K! But I am a St. Louis Blues fan. So you know if your not a fan of the Red Wings or any other team. We are going to say they suck!!!!! That's what being a fan is all about! But I don't do that cause I hate it when people say the team I like sucks. I have respect!!!! So, who cares what other people think. It's your team, so rock on!

I don't think they suck but playing in a weak division gives you 'free points' (as much as that's possible in the NHL). This weaker schedule also gives them a chance to not have to play catch up or play frantically in a number of games.
That's the beauty of the playoffs - teams with bloated records (Atlanta) can't play a extended series with better teams.
The fact the Red Wings made the Western Finals indicates they were one of the best 2 teams in the West last year (despite trying to lose to the Sharks in the 2nd round). :D

The Red Wings don't suck. In fact for the last 15 years they've been good. That's what makes them so easy to hate.

in English- F* the Wings
to say they suck is wrong, however it seems that every american that knows absolutly nothing about hockey says that thier favourite team is the Red Wings and it gets a tad bit annoying

Look man, when I say RED WINGS SUCK!!!, I don't mean they suck. I'm not a dumb@ss, I know they're a great team, I just don't like them. Isn't that the true reason everyone yells (insert team's name here) SUCK!!! ? You don't see people yelling BLUE JACKETS SUCK!!!, even though the Blue Jackets actually do suck. People yell RED WINGS SUCK!, because they don't like them, not because they literally suck.

With an unbalanced schedule, yes that means they play teams in there own division a lot more than anyone else, they do benifit from a weak division. They will even have trouble with that this year. tough road ahead and not much in the pipeline. Can't buy their way as in the past.

You can always find people who say so and so team sucks, especially when a team is on top and their team isn't. They find reasons why that team isn't really good and some make me laugh.
