Totally unique decade.

Let's put the music aside just for a moment, since it's been very well documented which acts and artists were active back then, and look at the technology that erupted:

-- Compact discs (invented in 1982, believe it or not) and the equipment to play them.

-- Videocassette recorders, and camera-recorders. The battery-powered "camcorders" replaced having a camera hooked up into a recording unit, and allowed the user to go anywhere instead of being tethered by a wire.

-- Video games and their playing systems. Sure, "Space Invaders" seems lame by today's standards, but how many people would wait for hours just to get on the darn thing at the local arcade? And which PlayStation are we up to now, anyways?

-- Cable television. Now, you didn't have to settle for whatever dreck was on ABC, CBS and NBC, as well as small independant stations and--gasp!--public television. You could have your MTV!

-- Personal computers. As much as some of think Macs are evil, we have to give props to Apple Inc. for making what was a very expensive--and large--machine affordable and desk-sized.

-- Fuel-injected engines. By the end of the decade, nearly car manufacturer had implemented this technology into all of their engines. The pumping-of-the-accelerator routines, which seemed different for every make, had been replaced by simply turning the key, and maybe toeing the accelerator if the engine was having trouble turning over.

Not since this time have we seen a more productive decade, with more new products and developments than there were in the previous decades.

Eat goats cheese as opposed to regular cheese. It contains 40 percent fewer calories than the cheese created from cow’s milk.

Eat muesli two hours before working out to boost fat burning as you train. Slow to digest, muesli takes longer for getting through your system, so is less likely to be turned into fat and still provides a good energy boost.

Beans, beans, are beneficial to your heart, the more you consume the more you... lose weight actually. Super-effective and full involving fibre, beans will regulate your appetite and slow the rate at which your stomach empties, meaning you remain fuller for longer.

Suck the idea in. Consciously hold in and contract your ab muscles while you’re walking, sitting your desk or making the supper. This will help to strengthen your abdominal muscles and your core, and provide you with one step closer to a flatter stomach.
