I tested my hot tub water today, it was bottomed out on chlorine. So I added some, noting that I usually put too little in, and I overdid it. Now it's all the way on the other end of the test strip, maxed out (and it took the bromine from bottomed out to maxed out as well). What can I do?

It won't hurt anything except your clothes...but if you want to consume excess Cl, remove your thermal cover for a day and let the sun get in. If you retest it after that and it's still off the charts, partially drain the tub and refill with fresh water

You have me confused. With my hot tub, I use bromine and I don't use chlorine. You use one or the other but not both. The test strips are for either bromine or chlorine.

You can drain out about 1/2 of the water and refill it with fresh water. I would also get with a hot tub store and get straightened out on what chemicals to add. I have found that I can get away with mainly only adding baking soda to keep my total alkalinity where it should be and the PH level. Every now and then, I'll add a little defoamer to keep the bubbles down. That's about it. My water is always clear. good luck.

That is an old wives tale. Yes, you can get pregnant in a hot tub. If you are still within the 72 hour window, get emergency contraception. You should also get tested for STDs and not have unprotected sex with your husband until you get the all-clear from the doctor.

Don't wear colored swim suites for a couple days. You don't wear any?! no problem. The chlorine overdose one time won't hurt anything.

maybe add more water or if it is outside just don't add anymore until the level drops the sun will eat the chlorine fast.

maybe let water run into it for a while, let it over flow, til the levels even out.
