After reading the answers you've gotten so far I have a feeling that most of the answerers don't know the correct pronunciation so I think it would be a bit more helpful to add that to your question. I on the other hand like that name, it isn't very comment and it's cute. I think I'd spell it a little differently though. Maybe Persephanie or Persefanie. As far as nicknames go I would call her Seph, Sephy, or Sefnie (like Stephie or Stephnie (steph knee (not steph uh knee) without the T)...

For those of you who keep bringing up the phone part of it, the name is pronounced PER SEF UH KNEE like Stephanie only without the T...

Hope that helped. Good luck.

Persephone would be a different middle name. Otherwise, go ahead and name her Persephone--but be prepared for her to be teased. Also, it may halp to instill early on that Persephone is a unique name and she is a unique child--start out with the confidence that it is a normal name--because it is very pretty and just because it isn't normal/common by society's standards doesn't mean you can't use it...you just have to be prepared for it.

Plus you can call her Percy and that is cute. :D

She was Hades wife by force, she was kidnapped by him and held in ransom to her mother Diana, Goddess of Earth. She ate 6 pomegranite seeds and if you eat in the underworld you have to stay there and so 6 months she was gone and Diana grieved (Fall, Winter) but when she returns the earth is happy (Spring, Summer)

And yes its a good, unique name

I really don't like it. I had a cat given to me named Persephone. I thought it was the wierdest name, but kinda made sense with a cat. Purrsephone.

When I'd go to the vet, they'd always look at me, like what? I'd always say, I didn't name her that. She was given to me with that name.

She was a wonderful cat, but we always called her Sephie. I just can't see naming a baby that though.

I dont think its a very attractive name, and the wife of Hades isnt something I myself would name my daughter after.

The name itself is pretty, but naming a child that in this day and age would be a bad idea. Most people aren't literary enough to be able to pronounce it.

I honestly love the name and would consider it for a girls name myself. Who cares really what other people think, I have come across people with the weirdest names and I they like being different. I love the name Hecate too.

It's beautiful, but I'm having awful flashbacks of the second movie of a trilogy I wish I hadn't watched... no really- I think it's pretty, though I like the other version of "Kore" better. Just my opinion.

I think it's a beautiful name.
My mother is named Giuseppina, which is also hard to pronounce, but she never got any teasing.

I love it, it's not generic or anything like other people's suggestions. Very unique, very pretty.

Most definetly yes.
