Well Ive been noticing my comp has been running slower and i couldnt figure out why. SO I mentioned to my bro-in-law this. ANd he said there are 3 problems with downloading. 1) download a virus 2)if peer-to-peer, these ppl have acces to ur comp. 3)but he said the main problem which i nvr heard b4 is that these prograsm u use to download stuff slow ur comp bc they use ur proccesor when ur not and that everntually slows it, i forgot how. But he said if u get divx web player it does the same thing. So great, forget downloading!!?

Let me correct your brother.
1 : Downloading a virus is really only a problem if you try to steal software, video files usually safe, but ALWAYS Scan with your antivirus package before using them. (www.avast.com for free AV if you ain't got a good one)
2 : P2P, they have access to the files you've already downloaded WHILE you let the software share it (that's HOW the system works)
3 : WRONG, the download software ONLY can use processor time when it's running, and if you don't tell it to run on boot it won't.
A DivX web player CAN slow a system miniscully.
More likely the PC just needs a clean up, to remove the spyware etc that internet explorer doesn't stop.
I'd reccomend these 2, run each in turn
ADAWARE fro www.lavasoftusa.com (Free personal version)
also SPYBOT S&D from www.spybot.org (Again free for home use)
Also worth having in toolbox is CCLEANER from www.ccleaner.com again a free download, and a good general windows tidyup utility.

just watch the movie downloading to the drive takes up needed space needed for other things and conjests the processor .. make sure that after watching 2 movies that you defrag the system.. and delete temp internet files your pc will work better

use the torrent system then.
And if you have virus software then it would tell you you have someone trying too connect too you hello a firewall use it
