Hi! Im just like you! well..i was..until I started acting classes at my school. Trust me the more you perform the more confident you'll be. Practise at hime in your room..make up scenes in your head and act them out, act out a scene you saw on tv and pretend you actually talking to people...
Also what I did..i know its hard..but ignore the people in your class who make you feel nervous..like the "popular" people who do drama...just ignore them and say to yourself "Is this going to matter in 3 months time? 3 years time? 3 days time?" "Are these people the people i want to spend my time with? and they going to influence my future career?" ..the answer is propley not...so just ignore them and act your heart out!....

sorry if my advice didnt make sense..im extremely tired..
email me and i can proply help you better...

I was very shy during my acting class because I felt like I needed to impress the people in my acting class. But, then I went to another acting class, and the teacher noticed that I wasn't very confident in myself. So during class he tries to push me get out off my shell. I am more confident and still sometimes a little quiet.

My advice to you is don't worry about what the others say or do because it is what you think of yourself that matters. I know it is easier said than done. Sometimes you may feel like you suck, but keep working at it!!! GOOD LUCK!!!

You are getting good advice. Mine is that you just relax and take it one day at a time.. It is a class, and you will not be the only beginner.
