You need to be aware that GM cars and trucks are very picky about the parts that are replaced on them. This includes the spark plugs.

I can tell you from experience working on Chevrolets that you have less problems using the AC Delco plugs and plug wires. GM takes massive amounts of time and effort to devlop their cars for their assembly lines. The parts that are designed for these cars are very specific.

This is not so true on Oil Filters and things of that nature, but anything that is in direct relation to the electronics on these cars needs to be replaced with their factory parts.

The computers in these vehicles are very specific in their programming and other manufacturers of parts do not hold their specifications to GM's standards.

I owned a 1996 S-10 and recently sold it. She had 225,000 miles on her, then my brother wanted it. I never had any issues with this truck, and my brother is still driving it. His friend had all kinds of trouble with this of the same year, he was always taking it to private shops and letting them do the work on his truck.

He never took my advise and stuck with the Dealership for his repair and maintenance work.

Take my advise here, stick with AC Delco parts for that Cavalier and you will not have any trouble with that car.

Good Luck!

Not sure of the part # but you should only use "A/C Delco" brand plugs in a Chevy , thats what they come with from the factory .Dont let the guys (or gals) at the parts store tell you any different and try to sell you some cheap plugs Speaking from experianc, it causes problems when you use anything different than the factory brand.

any will do. it`s an old car, and spark plugs will probably last it for the rest of its life.

Get wires too! as the spark plug wires tend to only be really good for 30,000 miles or so before that funky carbon-resistance_ stuff they use to conduct the spark current goes whacky after that.

that's the quad4 engine. the full ignition coil assembly is the vast conceal sitting on top of the engine. It has 4 coils geared up into it and that they sit down on top of the plugs. looks like there are 4 bolts that carry it down, and there's a harness going to it.
