I would say the 2 most notable ones over the last 25 years are (and strangely both McG's):

1. 1985 NL MVP & 2-time NL batting champ Willie McGee

2. 493 HR hitter Fred McGriff.

I would say these 2 guys slipped away because they really received nothing in return when they traded them.

Y'know, I just looked over the Yankees' draft record over the last 15 years, and they haven't picked anyone who was an impact player since 1992. The best they drafted was Eric Milton in '96 (who they traded for Chuck Knoblauch), Mark Prior in '98 (who they couldn't sign), and a couple mid-level relief pitchers. Whatever Cashman's other talents are, it's pretty obvious he can't do anything in the draft.

Willie McGee and Jay Buhner are the two that I remember.
