You're better off reading the websites set up and maintained by betta breeders. Then you will have more money to spend on buying all the stuff you'll need for betta breeding, maybe make some betta connections to mentor you.

Ok well first of all breeding beta's is a bad idea, why you ask.
Beta's, if you did not know, are Japanese fighting fish and they must be kept separate or else one will become dominant and overtake the tank. Unless you really want to spend money on separate tanks I recommend not breeding those type of fish. Perhaps a more valuable fish could be bred like koi. They are easier to breed and if you find the people you can sell them for a good price. If you have any questions just ask.

I have heard its a bit hard to breed bettas. I don't know any bookstores. But if you go to ask.com they have lots of sites that might help.

I've always heard it's super hard to find a female and a male betta that will get along with each other...so good luck :)
