OK heres the deal the transmission cooler that is built in radiator went bad, so I bought a after market transmission cooler from the parts store. It is the on one my van calls for but when you read the directions that come with it it says you can use this with your radiator to provide superior cooling for the transmission. I want to hook up just the cooler and I am going to install it all the way in the front on the AC condenser for 100% efficiency like the instructions said. Do you think being that I only use the van to putt around town and do not tow anything EVER that the cooler by itself will be enough cooling power for my transmission??? The van is a Chevy Lumina APV with a 3.1L engine the cooler is 3/4" x 5" x 12-3/4"

Those aftermarket trans. coolers are great. You may even add more life to your tranny. Just make sure the placement will give it enough air flow.

It should be fine, actually keeping the transmission cooler than it should be. The original cooler in the radiator helps warm the trans fluid, and softens up the seals on those cold winter mornings. If you live in a cold climate you may notice the trans is sluggish until it warms up. If you live in a hot climate you'll be better off with the stand alone cooler. Be sure to plug the ports on the radiator cooler, and flush any ATF out of the cooling system. I'm assuming the original trans cooler in the radiator leaked into the anti freeze? If it did the hoses will balloon if the ATF gets to them.

it quite is greater powerful to bypass the radiator and rerout it to the aftermarket cooler, the bypass would be greater powerful simply by fact the after marketplace cooler is designed for that one purpose, as damaging the the radiator which has better than transmission oil cooling applications

I'm sure that it will be fine. With the cool air getting to it, it should be better that the hot coolant trying to cool the trans fluid. Good luck.

NO! What you bought is meant for extra cooling for towing trailers. It will not keep you from a burn out.
