NO, you need to learn the facts. The healthcare system is in the craphole enough as we speak and it will probably run out when i get older. Education is already free, public schools can not make you pay for school legally. That is the law. You can't just have free health care, because then how do the hospitals stay open?with no one paying for healthcare, the doctors don't get payed and quit, the companies that make the instruments don't get payed and stop making equipment, and then the hospitals can't stay open, therefore ruining the meaning of starting free healthcare in the first place. All people like you have to do is bicker at the goverment, when what you are saying we should do, would put us more in the s***hole we are already deep enough in. I mean, i dont have anything agains immigrants, but if we let them come freely and get welfare, the country goes deeper and deeper in to debt and if the country is in debt, YOU are in debt. Social Security and Welfare will not last long anyways, because the country uses it as,"I can get money with out doing anything, so why get a job?"so thats why free health care wouldnt work because Social Security and Welfare are flushing down the toilet slowly as we speak, but no one will do anything about it.

There is FREE education. Go to your library and read.
As to healthcare, seek the truth. Those countries that do have it don't have that good a healthcare system. Else, why would those who can afford it come to this country?
Doctors are the greediest people on earth. They don't anything without beaucoup bucks.
It is true that Medicaid, Social Security, Welfare are socialistic prograns. But, remember, if you were to put the same amount of money (that the Government takes for SSA)into a savings account and leave the money there until you turn 65, you would have more than $1,000,000. If you die then, your family or friends can get that money. From Social Security, they get zip, nada, not one red cent.

There is no such thing as free government programs. It all costs on way or the other.
We already have free education, it's called public schools and they suck.
As far as health care, I'm not really keen on waiting 3 months to see a doctor about needing gall bladder surgery and not being able to pick the surgeon I want.
Social Security was never created to be a long term fix and welfare, medicaid, and SS are in bad shape.
Let's admit it, government programs do not work.

I know, these things are important for the lower sectors of wealth, and that is often what people don't understand. Those that can afford private education and private health will do so, and won't drain on the public services- this is the way it works the world around. Sure in australia if i have a flu, and can't afford the 250 bucks a doctor would cost- i will have to wait a few hours for the doctor to see me in the worst-case scenario, but if someone walks in with severe abdominal pain, a broken bone or has just gotten into a car crash they will be seen to immediately, without anyone going through his wallet to see first, if he can afford the treatment.
Having an educated and healthy populace is a prerequisite to being a civilised democracy. Such absences in America make it a laughing stock in the international community, or it would if the ignorance inherit in american actions over the last 7 years didn't terrify the world- given the military capability of the country. An educated people would never have voted an ignoramus as leader of their country (TWICE!!!), not only that but an educated people would not have stood for the lies he told to bring america into Iraq- nor would an educated people allow their civil liberties to be so easily siphoned away.
Certainly free education and healthcare are the only moral decisions a civilised country could make. The only real rationalisation for not wanting such things for others is based on personal greed rather than concern for the welfare of others, a 'why should i help anyone else' mentality. And such a mentality speaks strongly for a lot of the problems we see in the world today.
The argument here that public education is free is fallacious, current public education in america is a cursory thing, there is no wealth invested in the schools. The funding of public schools needs to be fair and equitable, the schools themselves need to be run well, it is totally jumping the gun to see the failure of the american public education system as a failure of public schooling in general, in other countries public education is of an excellent standard. And even where it is not, it is far better than having a ghettoised minority who have no education at all- as these people are bound to become your hardened criminals in order to make ends meet.
Also this idea that public health and education brings an end to competition and private industry is a complete copout! public health and education exists alongside private health and education, it does that in every country it exists in.

Well you sure got a lot of good misinformation out there.
To the student who did a paper on Canada's health care system, you are wrong, your information is very outdated.
Yes the employed help pay for the health care system just like everyone helps to pay for the roads to be fixed the ones who pay property taxes and oh yeah part of your provincial or state tax go towards that too, retrofit programs. The employers pay the biggest share of this program which is of course matched or a portion is by the government, enabling the the people of the country to enjoy healthcare when required.
We live here in Canada knowing the the ones who do not seek health care is because they don't want to. The problem here is the program for drug benefits from the government are non existant, we rely on organization and Clubs like the Kinsmens, March of Dimes and so on to raise money to help those in need. The Red Cross has no borders in that they will go anywhere they are needed and believe they were there for Katrina. Please don't judge our systems as we don't judge yours.

Yes, we need to turn this country into a socialist state. Health-care is a good place to start. I think that we should also push for veterinary care for all animals. And what is the government going to do about all these ants in my kitchen? But of course we need to have a free food program. Creative people, like myself, wouldn't have to work. I could finally finish that book I've been meaning to write!

Don't really see the question here and I really don't think you understand the word FREE as you used it. Just a statement made by someone naive enough to believe the usual rhetoric. If we had these things most of us would be paying about 40-50% income tax and 25-30% sales tax.
Besides, we have a provided for education system. When was the last time you demanded stricter controls on who could teach and better pay for teachers? I would bet your congressmen has never heard a suggestion like that from you.

Nothing is free. Somebody has got to pay for it.
Do you really want the government administering health care? Our government? I can't think of too many things I'd rather have less.
"Education" is already "free". But somebody is paying the bills for that, too. Where do you think the state gets its money to pay teachers' salaries and build schools and hire armed guards for Suzie and Joey and to buy metal detectors?
The TAXPAYER! That's where. Nothing is free.

1. I'm not real big on letting a government that spends a million dollars on shipping 2 50 cent washers decide what my health care options are.
2. You get a free basic education. And the public school system sucks. You think putting colleges in government hands will help them?

Its not all its cracked up to be. Yes everyone would have it, but yes it would be much worse. I do think the govt should invest much more in our education system as far as merit based scholarships. However, they need to rethink the organization of our healthcare system. and maybe add some money to that as well.
