It looks like that it could work except I am not sure what to do with the lip that runs along the out side perameter; it is raised a bit. How can you make the sink flush with the bottom of the counter top. Undermounted sinks are so expensive. Can anybody help me save a little money?

Sorry, but no, you can 't. Why do you want to make it an undermount? And are you sure you have a top mount sink, or might it be a tile in sink? Undermounts aren't anymore expensive than other sinks. Try your local plumbing supply warehouse (but not a chain like Ferguson) Before I became a contractor, I was the ops. manager for a plumbing supply warehouse, and we (and our competitors) usually had name brand (kohler, elkay, blanco) retunrs with minor imperfections that we sold for half price or less. You can also get a S/S sink frame to fit the sink you have if you like that look better.

GOOD LUCK :)

The undermounted sinks have a flat lip that retaining clips hold onto and sealant goes on top of. A top mounted sink is more rounded and does not have the shape needed to hold clips and sealant.

If you want to save money avoid the undermounted one or look for someplace that has them on sale or as irregulars.

Don't do half-@assed work. The edge is made for undermounting on an undermount sink. Spend the money.

You'll probably never get a tight seal if you use a top mount, go to yahoo and do a freecycle or cheapcycle sight in your area, you can look for one that someone is giving away or selling cheap, and list that you are looking for one. Might not cost you anything.

Yes!
Every undermount sink has a bead of caulking where it meets the top.

Use polyseamseal.
