Gemini doesn't quite have it right. NO reputable agent will ever ask you for any money for anything. Any agent who asks for any money for anything is a SCAM. There are lots of reputable agents. Now the question is do you think you have something the agent wants? They only want the best talent and the best looks. Everyone on Yahoo Answers asks the same thing because they have it backwards. You dont start with the agent, you wind up with an agent after many years of experience and training.

so a techniques the devoutly non secular Perry has advised countless fibs. The Devils going to get him for mendacity. In 2003 Perry spent a hundred seventy five million of the tax payers money to construct a highway to nowhere and after six years he had ran out of money and the De Facto NAFTA superhighway replaced into abandoned. 2001 Perry signed the Dream Act that has grow to be so unpopular with republicans. 2007 Perry compelled mandatory papilloma(sic) virus trip trips on 6th grade females. plenty for the republicans scuffling with for our freedoms. Over one third of working Texans have no heath care and Perry delivers if elected president no person will. This checklist is longer yet this guy is obviously not a pacesetter in any means. Perry is Bush on steroids as anybody is looking him.

You have to be VERY careful about acting agencies. I'm not signed to one because every one in my area only wants my money, not my talent. I've even had agencies CALL me asking if I wanted to sign on with them, but there's always a catch--usually a few hundred dollars initially and even more throughout the year.

All acting agencies are going to have to ask for money, but not all of them are just going to steal it. My advice: do your homework. Find out if anybody notable is signed on to the agencies, maybe even ask for contacts from them and ask people who are signed on if they're decent. Look them up online as well as locally--there are tons of places you can find out if they're good or not.

If you're looking for television and movies, the Screen Actors Guild is a good place to start. If it's theater you're in, try Actor's Equity. I'm sure they'll have good references and will be able to point you in the right direction.

Break a leg!

Theatre Doc has it right. A legit agent only takes a percentage (usually 10%) of whatever you make on booking a job. So, they are ONLY making money when you money. Period. Run away from everybody else.
