Well, I am thinking of a book series to write and this is my idea so far:

Title: Poison
Description:Well, Poison is about 2 kids, a brother and a sister, who were trapped inside of a lab to try out a new invention by scientists. It uses blood/DNA from many animals, and mixes it in with something else's DNA and bloodstream to cause malicious effects...such as amazing senses, wings/ability to fly, incredibly smart, etc.
Something went wrong with their test, and it caused them to turn out...Non-average. That is what it was supposed to do, but they turned out with amazing muscles, quickness, flight, mind powers, and almost anything you can think of. The scientists love this and built more like them. The kids decided to break out of the lab, and they were-you guessed it- out-made. The lab made even more powerful things to steal the kids back, and the kids had to stay at the lab for 5 more years, behind bars, being tested and examined.(continued in details)

The kids were given these disgusting potions, vials, and liquids of stuff that would make them evolve a little more. They all have different powers now, because the older ones were fed more potions...And now the poisons are stuck in their blood stream, causing them to change like they age and grow. The scientists have tried this before on babies, but the finished product only came out as a...fungus-type thing. Their creations live way longer than a human, by the way, but the fungus products die out in about 2 years. The scientists are WAY too proud to let go of the work of "art" they made, because these lasted longest and were most efficient. Now the kids have escaped again, growing rapidly with new powers. The lab isn't willing to let go of them that fast, let me tell you.
Characters:four of them - Tiger, Sara, Blake, and Carlie.

It sounds a lot like James Patterson's Maximum Ride Series.

No I don't think you should. Because you have stolen James Patterson's Maximim Ride series almost verbatim. That is very uncool. IN this case, the similarity is so profound that Mr. Patterson would have every right to go after you legally. And he would probably win, too. No publisher or agent would even read past the synopsis. The Max Ride books are extremely popular and well known and any agent or publisher would know you stole this. It is unprofessional and unethical and your name in the publishing business would be blacklisted forever. Sorry but the truth. Use original ideas. Stolen ideas get no kudos from me. Pax - C

How old are the kids? If you're talking 5 years olds...then I don't find it all that appealing. But if this were aimed for young adults (like myself 18 yrs old) I think the characters should be within that age group as well. Admittedly, this reminds me of X-men. But you could definitely make it into your own. Throw in a great escape, difficulties in fitting in with the "real world" that these kids have never really experienced, maybe a love interest or two...i'd definitely read it. iF you need any opinions don't hesitate to email me. I'm a big reader too, especially young adult, and also paranormal fiction. Good luck!

It will all depend on whether any of the names in the film are trademarked and the specific copyright laws relevent to the book. I would imagine that the name Shirlock Holmes is the intillectual property of the writer. Whatever the legalities, which I doubt are in your favour, it is very bad form to to write off the back of other peoples success. Why not create an original story? You could always loosely base it on the shirlock adventures, perhaps using that as your inspiration, rather than a guide.

Sounds like an amped up version of the television series "The Pretender" mixed with a little "Gremlins 2"

Just a suggestion, it might be more believable if each kid only ends up with one special abillity. The more special abillities you add, the less realistic your story is likely to become.

I mean if your team of superhero kids here goes up against the evil baddies and they have all kinds of special powers, your readers are likely to ask later on - "Wait. The one hero can trap things in force fields. Why didn't he just lasso all the baddies. Or the other hero can create fire. Why didn't he just burn all their trigger fingers so they couldn't fire their guns... etc..."

Wasn't there a series on TV with Jessica Alba a few years ago with this same theme? Her characters name was Max. She escaped and helped all the others escape as well. They were all modified humans.

Yes, please write it.

It sounds like the semi-trilogy written by Dean Koontz:

Watchers, Fear Nothing, Seize the Night
