yes i think that, depending on what children watch they can get the wrong idea about the world. for example, i wouldnt let kids watch R movies, or violent shows, until they can appreciate what it really means. exposing children to violent television at a young age just doesnt sound lika a very good idea, in my opinion. I personally was raised watching a couple of shows, like Mr. Roger's neighborhood and sesame street and it doesn't seem to have done any harm. but, watching tv is no replacement for reading or playing outside. I also have mixed feelings about "educataional" videogames.

Too much time is given to watching TV by both adults and children. I believe that children need close supervision in watching TV which means only certain shows and only so many shows per week. I prefer to er on the side of less is better than more!

Children in order to develop their minds and motor skills need to create their own games, toys and interact with adults and other children in play times. I much prefer sending a child into the backyard where his imagination can have free rein and where his muscles and mind are challenged by nature, lots of sunlight, exercise and pretend types of play.

Watching TV unrestricted yes. Simply watching TV, no.

As long as you make sure they still have active lives with a variety of activities they should be fine. Also of course, keep an eye on what they're watching. Watching 24/7 of R rated or other inappropriate viewing could have some impact.

TV viewing should be limited. I was raised watching a few different shows: reading rainbow, sesame street, mr. rogers, rugrats, and barney. I only had one computer game (detective barbie) and I was given books and toys that would challenge me to use my imagination. At 16, I do well in school, read A LOT, and I think this has to do with how my parents wanted me to do more imaginative things when I was a kid than watch TV all day.

definitely...my mom let me watch too much tv as a kid...im not active enough now but im chaning that. (Im not fat or anythin) but ive also become a big reader which i think s so much better than tv. it also helps out in school because while everyone else is moaning and groaning about the latest book report...im often intrigued at the prospect of a new book. (yes i'm a bit of a nerd and proud of it!) get your kids hooked on books instead!
