As younger your kids are as better it is to buy your first home. Kids don't like to move when they go to Kindergarten or School, have their first friends in their neighborhood. They get settled in and normally don't like to be the "new Kid" on the block.

I was about one when Dad and Mum bought the first house I can remember. It was the first house they'd ever bought, and first owned house Mum had ever lived in.

I'm eldest and my brother hadn't been born yet. Dad had gotten a salaried job that year as an engineer with a major company.

It was what i now call a 'starter house' ... 2 bedrooms and one bath all on one floor with kitchen and living/dining in front. had full basement and attic overhead.

Messy divorce fouled up my finances before I bought a house and all four kids grew up in rented places. We finally managed to buy something after the last of them had grown and moved on. [Although she did live with us for a bit there when she was between jobs.]

I bought my first house before I got married. We bought our current house when our first child was a little under a year old.
