I know, I was in line at the store the other day, and these people kept on jabbering about some some stuff, and the one guy kept talking about himself. And later I was on a date and my date wouldn't even let me finish this story I was telling about something that happened at work. I mean, it was a long story, but she just broke in and started talking about herself. And when I tried to change the subject back to me, she just got mad! I know I can be a little bit long winded, but when I tell a story, I think I deserve to have people listen to it! And then she started going on and on about her dad in the hospital, blah blah, I mean, the guy's old, get over it. So I brought up my story again, and she got even more mad.

Dearie, it's been my observation that most people who talk about a particular subject are just that--all talk! I suppose it boils down to the fact that often when you encounter someone like this, they're trying to convince themselves, as much as anyone else, of their self-worth and importance. They consider all the talk will make them look richer, smarter, and in all ways, better than anyone else around. Sad isn't it?
