I bought a pair of Vans skate shoes last week and they are a half size to big any ideas on how to make them smaller please no stupid answers.

wear thick socks
tighten the laces
stuff the toes with a few cotton balls

I'm afraid you're out of luck. Any kind of athletic shoes should fit correctly when you put them on the first time. If you haven't worn them much, take them back and exchange them. If they only come in whole sizes, get a size smaller and they will stretch a little bit with wear.

Take two-three tissues and bunch them up at the top of your shoe. Adjust them to where you feel comfortable. If you need more, put more. Therefore, you can grow into them easily.

Return them if you still have the recipt or tighten the laces. Sometimes you want shoes like that to be big.

sorry, but I really don't think you can make them smaller. I suggest exchanging them for the correct size if you still have the receipt.

exchange them, stick them in the dryer, stuff them, wear extra socks? those are all the practical ways i can think of =/ maybe it's a good thing in case your feet grow some more. good luck!
