Yes, I guess strange times calls for strange logic. Here are some people that say saying we need more terror attacks so people can appreciate the job the president is doing on the war on terror or something like that.

"At the end of the day, I believe fully the president is doing the right thing, and I think all we need is some attacks on American soil like we had on [Sept. 11, 2001]," Milligan said to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, "and the naysayers will come around very quickly to appreciate not only the commitment for President Bush, but the sacrifice that has been made by men and women to protect this country."

To save America, we need another 9/11. America's fabric is pulling apart like a cheap sweater. What would sew us back together? Another 9/11 attack.

No! that is no the way it is! basically you have to tell people the way things are because some don't understand the crucial issues that plague our world today. we all would love to think that they will never be more wars and that we all would live in harmony but the facts said otherwise. ladies and gentleman even today are those whom think that we can still negotiate with terrorists that if we given them what they want we would all be one happy family. well i hate to burst the bubble but is no so!

It is too bad. I was against this war before it was popular to be. Violence begets more violence. When the government wants a war, the people generally don't want to participate. Here are some examples. In WW2, no one wanted to get involved UNTIL Pearl Harbor occurred. Some speculate whether the president had know in advance. During the Cuban missile crisis, the government toyed with the idea of actually sending missiles into a US city, blame it on Cuba, and then the people would rally around the flag and support a war. (This is NOT a conspiracy theory. This is a documented fact I heard about on NPR.) Now, some say 9/11 was orchestrated by the government in order to justify this war. Remember when we were just going to go into Afghanistan? Where is that pesky Bin Laden anyway??? I have heard that Hitler would actually use this tactic to keep people loyal, and always cause fear of the "attacking outsiders." (I am NOT trying to start a conspiracy discussion.) All I'm saying is, anyone willing to make a statement like this is very scary to me. If all we need is a random act of "terrorism" to make everyone fall back in line, it seems like causing such an event would actually be a good idea to some people.

Actually, terrorists gain support in MANY different ways. I have learned this mostly by watching the news and doing research into the topic. It's truely terrifying.

In the middle east, there are kids, and many of them who have been taught in their schools, by their parents, and even by the leaders to accept and support terrorism. These kids have been taught to hate the Jews and the Americans basically from when they first could talk. These people are pyschologically "brainwashed" from a young age into thinking that the Jews and Americans are the evil ones and that the terrorists are the freedom fighters who will one day liberate the Middle East from Israel and American influence.

In Iran, the situation was much different actually. In 1953 or was it 1954, well anyways, the US and the British put Shah Reza Pahlavi into power, and the Shah backed the interests of the Western powers (mostly the US and Britain from what I know) for about 25 years. In 1979, the Iranian people had a well planned revolution and overthrew their Shah. At about the same time, the exiled, Ayatollah Khomeini came back into Iran and seized power. The Iranian people were very skeptical about this, but, Khomeini gained support from the public when Iraq attacked Iran in 1980. This led to an eight year war that ended in a stalemate with Iranian casualties totaling close to 1 million. The Iranian government still has, virtually, the same leadership as it did in 1979, a new Ayatollah has taken Khomeini's place though, his name is Ayatollah Khameini, and he is the Supreme Leader of Iran right now.

Hezbollah also works in a very different way. Hezbollah provides money and funding to its communities. They have built hospitals and even schools to gain public support. Hezbollah started out as a resistance movement to ward off any Israeli invasion of Lebanon's territory, but has moved on to a political organization with links now to Syria and Iran.

In Saudi Arabia, some of the wealthy million and billionaires and even some of the royalty supports the idea of terrorism, and has passed money and arms off to Al Qaeda, and many other smaller, not as well known, groups.

But in general, if a terrorist group is successful at striking fear into a population, the more propaganda will be used to recruit. Same goes as if a terrorist group is struck by an outside force. Their numbers will grow, because the terrorist group would need that much more people to fight off its enemy.

Terrorist groups also play off the propaganda factor of an occupation by a foreign country. The occupation allows the growth of the terrorist group so the terrorists can attack the foreign countries soldiers, similar to what is currently happening in Iraq. Terrorist groups also use the one liner scentences from the Quran that say to kill the jews or christians to get more operatives.

And my final statement: All Terrorist groups have to be shut down and dismantled, because they only bring misery and death to this world. I HATE HATE HATE them, I hate Al Qaeda for 9/11, and I wish they were all gone, but the US is in a VERY LONG WAR against the IDEAS and GROUPS who support Terrorism. (capital letters added for emphasis). Thanks, hope you learned and understand more. Thanks, hope you like my answer!

Would more attacks on American soil bring the country back together? Yes. But temporarily at best just like after 9/11. The reason to be fighting in the middle east is not the reason given, but no decent American would want to fight for the real reason. The real reason to fight in the middle east is that it's full of muslims.
If a person looks at it this way; in order to be the best muislim a person can be you must convert people to islam. If they will not convert, they must die. Christians, Jews everyone must convert or die. That is the view of the really good muslims, that is why they have got to go. We cannot live in peace with them, because their version of faith includes killing us if we don't give up what we believe in. If they were just going to be muslim versions of the Jehovah Witnesses, it would be tolerable. But they hold to a convert or perish philosophy and because of that, they must be killed, everyone of them, everywhere.
If a person chooses to look at things that way.

Personally, I think that if Bush-n-Company were as bad as many want to have us believe, they'd allow a terror attack here on the homeland to succeed, instead of thwarting every one that comes down the pike. Ask yourself what the presidents poll numbers would be if 3 attacks had been allowed to take place since 9/11.

Well, this is to be expected from any society who's government wants to control you by fear. Such responses from any number of idiots should be expected as they are all brainwashed and dont know the truth about anything - they believe their government is telling the truth and would never lie to them

What a bunch of crock - anyone who believes that the government is looking out for thier best interest has no idea what the government is all about and needs to have their head examined

I wouldnt trust anyone in office - and if I was in office I wouldnt WANT anyone to trust me - you better question everything I say and do while I am there otherwise how do you know I am doing the right thing for you

Yes, it is sad to say that many Americans have grown tired of the War Against Radical Islamic Jihadists. Many liberal politicians have encourage this, notably John ($400 haircut) Edwards. The Islamic Radicals will not stop; they hate us and Western Civilization in general; they call the US, the Great Satan.

If we can keep the American public informed about the true nature of our enemy, they will not be so complacent.

People say "fight fire with fire" but realize that the fire department usually uses water.

Opportunists took advantage of 9/11 to fullfill greedy objectives. Please realize the the "war on terror" is a cliche repeated over and over again by media. It is nothing but propaganda. It can more aptly be described as a "war of terror."

The United States attacked two autonomous countries using fictious justifications. It then occupied those countries and now has plans to continue the occupation indefinitely.

Today, the administration contends it can arrest and incarcerate a US citizen by accusing them of helping the enemy. That person has no rights, can be tortured, and held indefinitely without benefit of legal council. It has already happened.

We need to restore the balance of power between the branches of government by impeaching the president for abuse of power.

Yes -- that's the nature of fear-based politics.

The system only works with regular infusions of fear.
