Because that's the whole idea behind a union: different entities will be joined in a union. They need time to balance and level their standards. There are no two countries with the same standard in the union. Somebody always steals from somebody else. It's neither reserved for the Romanians to be thieves, nor for you, wherever you come from, to be robbed. If you don't like it, write to your local MP, the one you voted for to represent you in the Parliament.

Where is "here" exactly? Anyway, I believe this is once again a case of mistaken identity...Let's make sure we understand the difference between "ROMANIAN" and "ROMA" or "ROMANI" - ROMANIANS are Europeans from Romania and they aren't any more prone to stealing than other Europeans. ROMAS or ROMANI - otherwise known as "gypsies", "tzigane" or "gitano" - are nomadic people from no country in particular and with no citizenship of any kind - and you find them all over the E.U. - they are the ones most often involved in petty theft and crime - and they also have gotten into the habit of saying they are Romania just to denigrate the country; hence, the vehement hatred among most Romanians towards these people. May I suggest that you educate yourself a little bit on Romania and its before you make such assumptions or accusations...

Romania has made great strides to get into the E.U. and unlike some of the other stalwarts - e.g. France and Spain - has not engaged in active marginalization of specific ethnic groups or experienced a great deal of international or national terrorism (let alone threats) in recent years. So there you go.

Romania (as in its goverment) is being let into the ECC because they met the criteria set down by the ECC, yet the behavior of individual Romanians does not affect this decision.

It is in fact the EU and where do you get the idea that it is the Romanians stealing from people - British people have been stealing from British people for centuries - are you a thief ? If not why call all Romanians thieves ! Look at any part of the world and there will be theft so why blame the Romanians ?

Where ever you have poverty, people will do desparate things. It's not an ethnic issue.
