In god of war 2 There is this part were there is a button that has to be held How do u get in gate?

In god of war 2 i was trying to figure out
how do u get in the gates in Rhodes Palace u hhave to open gets and the second 1 how do u get in the Seceond Gate if it is so far away from the Button

I haven't played this game yet, but I've played similar games to that before.
I found out that, as you progress along, you must meticulously collect everything you can. And, you must perform all the "actions" available to strengthen your status as much as possible.
It's quite likely that you neglected to achieve something along the way which is now preventing you from getting through.

Can you backtrack through the game to check on that?
