It is an Acura 2.5 TL with 173,000 miles. Oil is clean when checked, engine looks brand new. It is missin its keyless entry. Tires have good wear left. Can an Acura handle that many miles? It is only $2500 but that is how much a new transmission and a new engine would cost if it went on me. I don't know if I can trust an Acura with that many miles.

No the engine has not been steam cleaned, it is a very recent trade in, I saw it the day it came in. As for the drivetrain, belts etc, I don't know. I didn't notice any problems when I test drove it, but it has not been checked out by a mechanic

That is a lot of miles. It is easy to steam clean an engine and change the oil. There are so many parts that are most likely worn. What about the suspension? The drive train? I would want to find one with somewhat lesser miles on it. The car is almost 12 years old. The purchase price may be nothing compared to the cost of the mechanical replacements.

good luck.

Are you buying from a private owner? Can you take the car to your own mechanic tha you trust to make a more detailed inspection of the car? Acura's are good foreign made cars and should run very well into the high milage area, but the must have been maintained very very good. What is the condition of the timing belt, brakes, starter, etc. The oil is clean, make sure the oil isn't leaking from the egine or oil pan.

I sold my 86 Integra with 192,000 (hwy) miles on it...it still got 28 mpg and was spotless ( I drove it and kept it that way...) Acuras are made to go 250,000 miles or more..
We sold our 95 Accord 194,000 on it in 2004, it was spotless also...it's STILL on the road with an 18 yr old driving it..(both cars are std shift, as are all my cars...) It sound's like a good deal to me, but I'd have a repair person look at it to make sure...

if you trust the person go ahead but i think that is a mistake .with the engine spotless it means he cleaned it before he wants to sell disguising problem. too many miles for me . maybe not for you, it is a steal too for 2500
