We are all just animals and therefore on some level we are equal to each other; no one has "dominion" over the other. (People could just as easily become an animal's lunch as it could become ours) I don't think that it is necessarily bad to have a bond with "God's creation" but caging an animal in ignorance of its nature is surely a sin, whatever you believe in. This is why there is so much antagonism between pets and people, why there are so many abandoned pets, and why there are so many accidents, injuries and deaths. It takes a lot of time, patience, education, and responsible stewardship to live closely with a wild animal. I think we ought to think carefully about what is best for that animal, and not put our personal beliefs or desires above that.

A panther or a leopard. They are both beautiful animals, and would be wonderful protection--although my favorite animal is a moose, but I wouldn't want one for a pet--they are too big and eat too much!
