Give a lazy person a hard job to do and he will find an easy way to do it. It works. My parents for years took as long as 45 minutes to open the locked car; it took me 5 seconds to do it. I laughed my *** off.
Although I don't think it that profound
Also Dead men tell no tales.

"Life... is like a grapefruit. It's orange and squishy, and has a few pips in it, and some folks have half a one for breakfast. "
~Douglas Adams.
Along with quite a few more of his. And...
"If mankind minus one were of one opinion, then mankind is no more justified in silencing the one than the one - if he had the power - would be justified in silencing mankind."
~John Stuart Mill.

For me, the most insightful, frightening and hopeful remark is by the Roman poet Terrence:
"Because I am human, nothing human is alien to me."

"Things change."
Movie title that made a profound impression on me in my early teens. Through many moves and major life events, this one stuck behind me. I think it's tattooed on my brain somewhere.

"Accept the fact that the achievement of your happiness is the only moral purpose of your life, and that happiness—not pain or mindless self-indulgence—is the proof of your moral integrity, since it is the proof and the result of your loyalty to the achievement of your values." - Ayn Rand
