my wife had a TL done 6 years ago, we have tried to get the records but know one ever gets back to us, she signed for a procedure using 2 entry points navel, and bikini line... tough when she woke there was only one and then the dr didnt want to set up a follow up.... is there any way to tell if it was done right.

she has irregular periods and endometiosis(sp?), so that could also be part of it... she had the TL done before we met.... we are looking into a reversal and trying to save for it. the dr we are talkign to needs to know lengths and stuff like that...

are you talking to a fertility specialist (RE) they'll be able to tell you what kind of tests can be done to make sure that the TL was done right....especially since she also has endometriosis, talk to an RE, and if you already have done so, you can also ask one online for free for a second opinion, it's worth to get an expert's advice, try www.FertilityTies.com
good luck to you! and i hope it works out for both of you

Generally they did not do follow ups for tubal ligations, it was assumed they were done right. This is probably why TL has a slightly higher failure rate than vasectomy.

In any case there is a test they can do where they insert a catheter through the cervix and pump the uterus full of dye, they then track the dye using either x-ray or ultrasound and see if it makes it to the ovaries. This test is usually only done if a couple is having trouble conceiving to make sure the tubes aren't blocked by scar tissue (usually from PID).

You could get an HSG but its expensive. This procedure shoots dye into the fallopian tuibes and checks for ANY blockage.

If she isn't pregnant after 6 years, I'd feel reasonably safe guessing it was done right. But to feel better, she could go to the doctor's office herself and be a nuisance until someone answers her question.

Go to another doctor and get an exam.
