I dont mean if the pig just simply died of a disease or something, maybe i should have been more specific, lets say if the pig was healthy but too old to be happy and needed to be put to sleep, wee then, would you eat it. I am Roman Catholic by the way, whats that got to do with anything????

Oh my God, that person called 'Mouse' I never mentioned anything about eating a dog, the q. is about fish and pigs. There is a bit of a difference. I cant buy dogmeat and I wouldnt eat it. I can buy fish and bacon and I do eat it, distinguish.

No, because if it was a pet and it suddenly died it would have to be either from disease or old age. In either case the meat would not be very good. If the pig died from a disease, eating it would be pretty stupid as there's a chance it could transmit whatever disease it had to whoever eats it. Even if it was healthy and just died of old age, then the meat would be tough and nasty because the pig was old. Pigs bred for market are fed a lot differently from the way you would feed and spoil a pet.

Besides, I don't think I could eat anything I'd named.

I would not eat the whole pig. I would bond with the pig by having some of it, yes. Then I would know a little bit of my little friend and I would be one again. When my mother died, I was looking at her ashes in a glass jar on the back of the piano she used to play so well (she was a piano teacher), and I just took the cover off and grabbed a small amount of them and ate them. I wanted her ashes to be part of my being. I wanted her to be that close again. And now she is. It felt right at the time, and it still does. Many people would have trouble with that one. The matter of the pig - it is so personal. First, my condolences for the loss of your pet. I think in your case, you would feel better if you did not partake. I think a dignified burial or cremation would be far more appropriate. If that dear animal was close to you, which I believe it was, it would only make problems for you to think of dining on it. So, pass on that one and just have a dignified burial and leave it at that. In the long run, you will be okay with your course of action. Anything else and you might find yourself feeling "off" about the way you handled it. Best to you, and again, my sincere sympathy for the loss of your dear little pet. From Chris in South Portland, Maine, U.S.A. (I am 64 years old.)

Would you eat your dog if it died? I don't think so (or, at least I hope not)! If your pig died, you might guess that there is something wrong with it... just another reason not to eat it. No. I don't eat pets...

By the way... look around... fish section... go find the pet eater section... you might have better luck!

Absolutely NOT! My daughter had a pet pot-bellied pig several years ago when she was in high school, and it was a family pet loved by us all. Well, our Golden Retriever often got fed up with her - but did put up with her . Please NO. If you achieve the love of any pet and it depends on you and expects you to help it survive and is loyal, it would be terribly uncouth to end its memory in that way and disgusting to even think about. We finally gave Princess away to a petting farm when my daughter went to college and she lived happily and even raised 2 litters of piglets!

Absolutely not! I used to keep chickens and they all died natural deaths except those eaten by a fox which managed to scale a 6ft. wall. I did enjoy fresh eggs for breakfast though.
