I believe Fred Phelps to be an even worse cult leader than Jim Jones, or David Koresh. At least they kept their beliefs in the confines of their church and did not picket and spread hate messages like this.6

They do not understand the basics of Christianity.

God does not "hate" anyone.

If he loves axe murderers and child rapists just like he loves children and the poor, why would he hate homosexuals?

The point is god loves you no matter what, but if you do not seek his forgiveness you will be punished.

Hardly anyone understands christianity.

If someones slaps you, would you turn the other cheek and let them hit you again?

I think they should be barred from funerals and the media. It in no way reflects on any Baptist church in America, and if I had been a grieving mother whose son had been labeled homo and picketed, I'm afraid I would have committed murder.

I think they are horribly misguided, and I think the message they spread is hateful and mean-spirited. They protested funerals for dead miners in my state by saying these men died, because God is angry at us for condoning homosexuality. Where do they get off? I'd like to beat them all with a rubber hose. Does that answer the question, or am I being too vague?

Oh MY! We JUST buried a fallen soldier here in Garden City last week, and were worried they would be HERE protesting! No one showed up though and it was a beautiful procession and funeral with about 1000 people.
