I own a hair salon in a small town north of Toronto,Canada. And my prices [for short hair] for these are:
Perms-start @ $55
Shamp/cut/style starts @ $27
Haircut $15
And the funny thing is I'm just as good if not better then those upscale swanky/city salons, You just pay big dollars for the novelty of high class high end...but your getting a person who has the same education as everyone else [yet some are better than others]! But I've fixed crappy hair jobs from those kind of places, and most of it is all show!

SO FOR ALL YOU PEOPLE WHO THINK YOU PAY MORE YOU GET A BETTER JOB!! NO YOU DON'T ALWAYS 'GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR"

TRUST ME!!

Around $60 for a perm at a salon in the city. Now, just go to the hairdresser's here in my small town. She charges me $8 for a nice cut, and I don't do the perm any more. Easy, cheaper, looks just fine.

I usually wash my hair at home and then go to the salon for a haircut on occasions. They want $25.00! Imagine the cost if I let them shampoo/condition!!! And let's not forget the tip.

In Los Angeles, you can't get anything done for under $200 unless you are willing to put yourself in the hands of a drug addict who just wants enough $ to score their next bag of dope from their customers. No one cares about repeat business anymore! They just take the money & run! I no longer trust ANYONE to touch my hair. Fortunately, I don't need perms & I cut my own hair! No fee required! And NO complaints from either end!

Average for me has been around $50... I color my own hair because they charge too much that....I haven't had a perm since I was in the 7th grade.

$30 for a shampoo and cut. Last year I decided to splurge and have my hair colored and highlighted, too, and it cost $100. Not a lot for many areas, but more than enough for me, so now I do the color at home!

let's see..my hair is naturally Platinum blond, my scalp is naturally pink...there is a lot more pink than blond. I have found it particularly hard to put scalp onto the rollers for a perm (for that 'full, fluffy look'), and I don't particularly like the look of a full, fluffy scalp. The cost of my hair upkeep is, shall we say, minimum? A trip to Mcdonalds costs more.

Depends on where you go. You can get the works anywhere from $60 (If you look for specials) to several thousand. Keep in mind most services are charged separately.
