There are a lot of reasons... one is that our government and the manufacturers of this food pump it full of crap so that it doesn't taste like anything but lasts on the shelves a lot longer...
Children are BOMBARDED with food ads every single day, everywhere they go. McDonald's looks like an amusement park to a three year old, and I think that bad food is mildly addictive. And never filling for very long.
We also drink Soda which is full of sugar and calories, all of which are empty and leave you unsastisfied, or just give you an additional 200 calories which could be a WHOLE MEAL.
Many parents are about "convience" when they don't realize how easy it is to make a home-cooked meal, or if they ARE making home-cooked food they're buying the same things their parents did to make them: we now realize that certain foods are bad for us but some people still think that it won't taste the same if you use skim milk ricotta in replace of whole milk, even if you save yourself 200 calories per serving.

ok this might not be the greatest answer ever but here it goes. The reason i think most people in the U.S. of A. is well for one-it is the origin of all (if i am not correct most) fast food places. For two, when fat people -no offense- get fat, their self esteem is zero and they figure hey i am so fat no one, no way no how is going to give me a job. Or if you feel liker being nice it is in their metabolism. They are born with it. Or most often when they are younger they could eat whatever they want. Most likely did not go outside to play, and the parents just sat their and did nothing about it. The end result of that is they are all ready in the eat-don't-exercises- routine. I hope that my answer will do it for you.

Because Americans have become so lazy and they eat whatever they want whenever they want and have no self-discipline. We are obsessed with getting things fast so that's why we are the "fast food nation". I wish everyone knew how bad fast food is for you.
The grocery stores are bad too. Look at all the frozen meals-in-a-bag that people eat that are packed with calories, fat, and sodium. Why can't we just go back to eating normal cooked food?
People don't realize how bad white bread is for you, and it's everywhere. On top of that, foods that claim to be "whole-grain" and "good for you" are not really, and people don't know how to read nutritional labels to see for themselves. I think they should really start preaching this in schools hardcore. It saddens me to see kids who eat terrible all the time and they aren't active. We're raising our kids to be worse off than we are. They play on playstations and computers rather than going out and playing in the yard. It's sad and disappointing!

It costs money to go to a gym and even then you may be attacked on the way home. You cannot let your children go out on their own to play, so you keep them home. You have to work incredible hours just to hold down your job and you do not have the time to cook correctly as you are just so tired. It is easier to buy food the is already pre made, if you have the money. No chance to exercise and no time to cook the good food are two reasons I can think of

I'm Canadian and we're not far behind! Yet Ive heard Philadelphia is the state with the most obese people. How many fast food restaurants are there? It's weird because alot of celebrities are from the U.S and their skinny, fit and beautiful. Although we are starting to see more bigger beautiful women in the media.

we've extra advantageous proper events. very few human beings indoors the U. S. care approximately soccer. Even much less care approximately rugby and cricket. Baseball and basketball are no longer often American in common words events. Japan and the Caribbean international locations love baseball and function their very own expert leagues to coach it. Europe & Asia have their very own basketball leagues. Why do no longer Europeans play baseball collectively as Asia and the u . s . a .'s like it? Why would not Europe play soccer? Canada and Australia have quite comparable alterations of our recreation. Mexicans like American soccer in spite of out their very own league. Why do no longer Asians play hockey?

A big part of the problem is not knowing good portion control. A serving size of meat is the size of a deck of cards. A serving size of cheese is the size of a domino.
We tend to go WAY over those limits.
