My husband and I are moving to Tampa within the next month. We are looking for something within the 33634 to 33607 zip code. I've heard thats a very nice area, has a nice mall, etc. The only other location we'd be looking at is clearwater beach.
What ways reliable and trustworthy ways are there to find townhomes and/or condos in that area?

Check the local newspaper ads online.
Find a Real Estate broker who is national.
Be very specific about your area & requirements.

Your best bet is to use a realtor in the area. Instead of thumbing through the web or yellow pages, I'd be more than happy to refer a realtor in the area to you with proven success. If you use a random realtor from the web or something like that, you run the risk of getting someone new that may not be that great. I'm located about 2 hours away and have contacts if you like.
