No it shouldn't be considered racist, but in this PC world we live in, you can't speak the truth without being chastised as a racist.
I gave up on being PC a long time ago because of this.

Well, I guess the argument would be WHY you feel the need to point that out. Does this tell us something about Maori people? Maybe, maybe not.
The thing about going by statistical information is that it is usually biased or flawed no matter what. For instance, in some countries, black people are convicted of more crimes. CONVICTED is the key word. Everyone (with a brain and who's not in denial) knows that black people and many other ethnic groups receive unfair treatment in the justice system. So naturally more blacks are convicted. Read studies to find out how many white people get off with just probation. This also goes for men vs. women. Women usually get life in jail while men get much shorter sentences, sometimes for worse crimes.
Another thing to consider is why people do what they do. Many people who live in poverty are those who have been at a disadvantage for years & years (mostly minorty groups). In this environment, of course you're going to have more crimes and social problems. It isn't because they are ethnic, it's because of their living conditions. So really, I can understand a low income black/hispanic/whatever person commiting a robbery more than I can understand why there are so many white serial killers & child molesters....what's the reason behind that?
Don't rely on statistics so much. Think beyond them and use common sense. If you really believe that race determines how good of a people we are, then you're being lazy and just generalizing. Or trying to find validation for racist pre-conceptions and accusations.

No, stating a fact is not racist. But if you put a different spin on it, like, "Maori people abuse their children more than white people do so all Maori people are child abusers," then that would be racist.

Some people think that saying anything about any group is racist. Some promoters of illegal immigration into the US say that calling for stricter enforcement of the immigration laws is racist. So now I totally disregard any comment that this or that is racist, because this is the last argument of those who maintain an indefendable position.

No, it shouldn't be considered racist. But I guess some people think that it's okay for minorities to commit a lot of crime because they suffer from living in a White dominated "racist" society.

if you can handle ppl saying equally "truthful" statements about your entire race, then go ahead.
Its all about the way that you say it and the message behind your statement
