Both Bush and Cheney are for big government. Just look at the so called Patriot Act, the TSA and the Department of Homeland Security were created under this act. Just what we need more government agencies.

Because it was their conservative base who voted them into office. I guess they were deceived, some of them are now admitting it, and trying to distance themselves from the train wreck that is the Bush Presidency.

True. However, there is a play on words going on which the gullible public falls victim to.

The traditional sense of the word "Conservative" means modest.

However, the public picked up on a different meaning, thinking the word is "Conservationist", or wanting to preserve the old ways of doing things.

Politicians won't correct the gullible public, they'd rather play up to their ingnorance by feeding it with meaningless nonsense.

For instance, Both Cheney and Bush are RESPONSIBLE for using the national debt as their unlimited credit card, and someone will have to pay up...some day.

They defer the inevitable by pumping their party's forebearance on increasing taxes.

Listen to the candidates as they spin what their programs will do for the economy.

Nobody wants to face up to a nine trillion dollars national debt, but the Republicans will tell you, repeatedly, that they are not for higher taxes.

When Bush got in, the national debt was 5.4 trillion dollars, showing signs of decreasing.

He immediately ballooned it, and continued on with the extravagant endeavors that don't make sense.

This should be met with righteous indignation, but instead, the gullible public allows each and every day to be an additional unwanted expense.

Nobody and no one entity can usurp this bunch.

Bush didn't expand government. The TSA is another name for the Transportation Security Board, the DHS is just a grouping of previously scattered agencies, and the patriot act replaces clinton era programs that read every single e-mail and recorded every single phone call.

There's nothing anti-conservative about expanding law enforcement and gathering intelligence. It's the nanny-state, entitlement, and regulatory crap.

Bush and Cheney ran under the cloak of a being Republicans. Republicans assumed that a fellow Republican is automatically a conservative.

The initiative to realize this (presuming that there is a great case to be made) could come from the Democratic contributors of Congress. The media circuses of Watergate and OMG the Pres have been given a BJ did little good (and probably even undesirable) for the occasion who initiated technique. possibly the Democratic occasion is extra worried correct to the 2008 election and would not choose for to open themselves to the GOP snarking which would be inevitable in any election 365 days impeachment technique.

Conservatives voted for both of them... not just once but twice. Conservative want control over people social lives which proves they do not really want small government...REAL Republicans are Libertarians. Conservatives are full of hypocrisy, saying they want small government. They never have and never will.
