It's not floating or anything, but it's gills aren't moving and neither is it's mouth. I tried tapping the glass, but nothing..I think the reason is because i haven't fed it since i got it yesterday. But i don't have any fish food and i can't go buy any. Do you think if i feed it now, it will start moving/swimming again? PLEASE help me and give me some tips to bring it back to an active state!!

I will assume you have a Betta because that is usually a good place to start. Bettas breath air with their labyrinth organs, so they don't use their gills. Stop tapping the glass, you will stress it out too much. As was said before, a fish will not die because it missed a day of meals. Do a 40% water change and add conditioned water back into the tank ASAP. Bettas have the ability to sit motionless for long periods of time, usually at the surface, or the bottom. You might as well check to see if it is dead (so we aren't wasting each other's time). Gently poke the fish with your finger, if it responds in any way, it is obviously alive. In the event that it doesn't respond, follow the procedures I already gave you. Email me if none of that works.

if you tossed it in a bowl with a bunch of unconditioned tap water, most likely it is dying. poke it a little (not hard) with a fish net, and if it just flops over to its side, yea its a goner. you should learn a little more about fish before you decide to get one. and next time get a betta, theyre a great beginner fish, and you can easily provide them with everything they need if you get a 2.5 gallon tank with some fake (or real) plants, some gravel, a filter and a small heater.
if its still in the cup you got it in, just to let you know, the people at the carnival don't exactly care about the fish, so it might have starved to death. i got a goldfish from a carnival, cycled a 10 gallon tank, and put it in, and it still died the next day. watch out for whiteish film over its eyes and a sort of grayish color to the body, then youll know its dead . =/

Sorry sounds a bit dead to me, attempt to net it or put your hand in the water towards it and if you can pick it up without it moving or 'breathing opening its mouth or gills' i think my diagnosis is correct. PS its fine to leave a new addition to a tank a couple of days without feeding it if its not going in with an established community. Should by some food when you set up a tank though.

Oh dear. But a filter, buy an airpump, and buy some food. How would you like to live in your toilet with all the doors amd windown shut up? Do you need to eat to live?? Well, so does the goldfish.

Sounds like a dead fish. They don't always float when the die. If you don't have any fish food sounds like you just got the tank so let me ask you this....How did you remove the chlorine from the tap water????

If you dont want PETA on your *** you better feed that damn fish. Give it a slice of white bread and let it float at the top of the tank. The fish should eat it then you damn murderer!

Why do you buy a fiah and not the feed?
It is like buying a car and not being able to afford the gas.

First, see if it's alive by nudging it with your fishnet. If it is, feed it. If not, flush it.
