isn't it all about having a better argument? So far I don't see much in the way of good arguments, good ideas, solutions, a plan for the future from the conservative side....all I see from you are complaints and threats and name calling....you call people socialists or communists....clearly indicating that you have no idea what either one is......if I disagree with you, you're reaction is to beat me up....you don't agree with Michael Moore, so want to kick him. stop being angry and start coming up with conservative ideas that will bring solutions to the issues we face.....climate change, healthcare, energy, pollution......

who said anything about handing over the keys? you're making stuff up. all the libs i know are hard working, patriot Americans, who have taken any government money. The fanatics in the ME are bad people, but Bush is making matters worse...so they are both threats.

American conservatism as I see it depends heavily on anti intellectualism which explains why they don't bring idea's to the table. There might be a group who really believe all the fear mongering and we can really only feel bad for them but most seem hung up on populism no doubt fueled in them by right wing hate radio and fox news.

Being a moderate, I think both sides can be full of themselves at times, but I have a sense of respect for both sides. I guess the thing that bugs me the most about liberals is that they think there is an answer to every problem. I have a hard time believing every problem has a solution, especially a government solution. On the other hand, too many conservatives are afraid of change and will do anything to prevent even some minor changes that have very little impact on anything. What we need is people who are open to change, but do not think its the answer to every question.

Your generalizations are comical at best. I always hear the left describing how they feel insulted by being generalized and yet here you go doing the same thing. It is safe to say that these things happen on both sides of the aisle.
Now to answer your real questions.

climate change-It's a planetary cyclical event we have no control over. If you are buying carbon credits, you are being scammed in the worst way. By your leaders.

health care-It works just fine for those that put something back into it. But "just for you" we already have Medicare and Medicaid as well as local health departments all over the country. They don't work well I know, but that is your socialized medicine at work isn't it?

energy-I agree, we need to become more energy independent. I will also agree that we need to develop new technologies or improve the ones we already have. In the meantime though. We must develop our internal infrastructure for more petroleum and coal as well as nuclear energy until we can produce the alternatives. We can't just stop.

pollution-I'm as big an advocate of being good stewards of our planet as anybody. I see ANY pollution and it breaks my heart. To completely control it though, especially industrial pollution, you would have to have a "pollution police" force the size of our military. The absolute best defense against it, industrial or pollution by individuals, is each and every citizen caring enough to report any and all suspicious activity they may witness. It's called being responsible. I've done it myself several times. Have you?

issues we face???
climate change..yep its been happening since earth was formed
health care? yep people are free to chose what they do,-- how they spend their $,use their talents, resources, how many kids they will produce,to seek knowledge (school) or not (drop out/refuse to try a new skill or path)...No one on the planet is guaranteed immunity from loss, suffering, poor health, great talent, good looks, intelligence or lack of, ....
..Access in developed countries--> recognition that sometime everone will need a DR or a medicine...so the key is-->an for the day/time
...Many chose to HOPE that they will "get" treatment /medicine because of another's charity or they
expect a "free " treatment because its the "humane thing"
or a basic/essential "right "...
Health care is NOT an "ISSUE" its simply poor planning, a hope or belief that someone MUST help.....meanwhile they buy their new TV,vacation trip, "cool (=$$$)"shoes/ fashion, cars, alcohol, pizza, recreational "drugs", bottled water, sports tickets,....etc
Energy exists everywhere..specific trypes of energy are prized when that type of energy is used to power an "x" or produce a product (water powered grist mills -->flour-->
bread// l/coal is chemically altered to produce kerosene ,gasoline....What people create /need determines energy use/need apples fall from trees//apple pie needs an oven/flour,,,,
SOLUTIONS to "issues" we face??? sure ..
the ability to find/create,formulate a "solution" requires
-at minimum knowledge based on "facts".....
gee the weather guys..still just estimate/guess...global warming differs from the dangers of impending ice age?.
Solutions in todays world are often based more on selling a "plan/ theory/ or NEED to" ..simply because someone somewhere sees an "opportunity"....
i.e. "x' treatment cures zzzz but it is not "chosen/marketed because the drug companies have a xx treatment that even w/ side effects (no cure) can produce greated profit...esp if xxx cure treatment is a simple recipie anyone can make...
Mankind's existance on earth has produced many different ideas/inventions but we are a long way away from understanding how the planet works..so fixing climate change..is beyond arrogant...

I think it's the sheer numbers. The majority of American voters are registered Democrats. If you believe that Democrats Hate America, that's pretty scary.

I don't think the quality of arguments has anything to do with it. People who are really committed to a position beyond the limits of rationality can't recognize alternatives to thier position at all, no matter how well-stated. Even when presented with rational arguments, good ideas, plausible solutions, workable plans or valid criticism, all they see is complaints, propaganda, threats and name calling. So when you present a good argument to a 'Con' with that level of commttement to his philosophy, it's like your just shouting nonsense at him - spouting communist dogma and proposing failed socialist schemes.

Similarly, if you get two such people together, they won't even be able to acknowledge what the issues /are/. If one is looking for solutions to problems like climate change, they won't find any from others who are looking for solutions to problems like terrorism. And they'll both object that the other's 'problem' is just a smoke screen to keep from dealing with the, 'real' problem.

I was going to answer your question, but reading your responses to the answers provided I can see that you are not REALLY interested in hearing other people solutions to our problems and the reasons they dislike the liberal solutions, you're only interested in calling them "made up" or "false"

If you were truly interested in gaining knowledge you'd ask for more details, not provide reasons why you think they are wrong.

This is really interesting. You seem to think that cons get angry and irrational when discussing issues with libs. My experience is that libs get angry and irrational when discussing issues with cons. Let's just agree in all reality that people do it in general and it happens on both sides. What scares me specifically about liberals/progressives is how quickly their agenda can destroy so much of what has made this country great! I can address most of these issues, but I don't have all night. Let's be more specific in these issues and we'll discuss them.

I noticed that people that are afraid of Liberals/Progressives.
They are afraid of change. Rarely does anyone like changes.

I don't like the changes in some immigration issues, because it changes my way of life.

I'm not a Conservative nor a Liberal leftists. I'm more Moderate leaning towards the left. I find myself agreeing with conservatives on issures that have effected me personally. But I favor the Left.
I like Michael Moore's sensitivity and quirkiness.
I like George Bush as a person, his humaness, because he makes me feel smart. and would be good at a party.

But he won't make me rich, because I"m not in the in crowd!

OK. To all you conservative punks. You're not cool just 'cause you talk tough. And another thing, you're a bunch of hypocrites. You have the audacity to call liberals socialists or communists, but the only anit-capitalist act I've seen in the last couple months is the new wire-tapping program imposed by, yeah, you guessed it, Republicans. So I don't want to hear your simple-minded rhetoric, especially from that sweetheart suthrnlyts.

Have you noticed that the truth usually hurts especially when you have based your life on a lie....

How does it feel when your wife is cheating on you, the first thing is to deny it.
The same is true with death, there is a stage of denial, hoping that it was a dream or a trick being played on you......

What if your brother died in the war and you take pride that he fought for his country, later to ponder whether his country was controlled by evil greedy people who sent your brother to die for their greed..... It is tough to see the truth,

edit, I agree I am a socialist and can debate my views from a solid base.... No need to call myself a progressive... just because most are ignorant about socialism
