Indirectly, power structures today are based on lies and covert control when the "Prince" was written governments use naked force/violence to maintain them selves. People shackled to walls in dungeons, heads on pikes. It would be impossible to write a book about The Prince that had any meaning, it's to simple/direct/sparse.

Well, totally just read an Onion article about a Machiavellian hierarchy developing in a hardware store, but, other than that, I would say: George Bush. My old English teacher. My new History teacher. Etc. Etc.

I honestly don't know if you mean something specific by "listeners". Are you talking about who follows the rules he lays out in the Prince. Thats American power politics in a nutshell.

I was interested to find "The Prince" last week on the featured new books shelf in our local library.

Maybe political theorists study him. But, I don't think his methods are practical in today's world because the masses are much more educated than they were in his time. That's just my opinion though. However, I still like his work.

Nobody needs to read the Prince to figure out how to be Machiavellian. It is pure human nature.
They smile in your face
all the time they want to take your place
the back stabbers.................
