If Bill Clinton had never existed, would it be necessary for the Rethuglicans to invent him?

About half the time when I read an answer by a Rethuglican to a question that's critical of the Bushies, that person throws in a gratuitous comment about Bill Clinton. This, in spite of the fact that the worst thing Clinton did was lie about getting a BJ. He certainly didn't send American troops to die in an illegal war based on a lie. Nor did he authorize torture and the kind of human rights abuses that make America look like a third-world dictatorship. What would Rethuglicans do if they didn't have Clinton to kick around?

If Bill would have just behaved himself, Al Gore would have won the 2000 election hands down. I'm a little upset with him for that myself.

Well, first you have to accept that your assessment of the current administration is true...which I don't.

But from a larger perspective, IF Clinton didn't exist, would we still have shown no backbone in responding to earlier terrorist attacks on our assets? IF Clinton didn't exist, would Bin Laden have been so appalled that an American leader would have shown the moral sensibilities of a stray dog...something abhorrent to a fundamentalist.? IF Clinton didn't exist and Americans didn't retreat from Mogadishu, would Bin Laden have assessed us as being too weak to respond to a direct attack? If Clinton didn't exist and another president had been offered Bin Laden, would 9/11 have been possible?

No one will ever know the answer to these "what-if's", but the Republicans would probably not have to be working so hard at keeping America safe today.

Yes if they didn't have Clinton they would no doubt blame another Democrat.
Republican hate for Bill Clinton comes from jealousy and resentment.They tried to smear the man from before he was president throughout his whole presidency ,with as an absolute low point the fraudulent impeachment,and they will continue till after he is dead probably.They can't grasp why their propaganda doesn't work on Bill like it did and does on most other Democrats,think of Kerry and or Dean.This frustration explains their obsession.

Because all you liberals point out things about Bush, but when a conservative points out the exact same thing a liberal did, you get all antsy. By the way... Clinton sent troops into Somalia, Clinton bombed Iraq, Clinton got us involved in the Balkans... ohhhh but I forgot, those were "legal" because he was a liberal. Why dont you grow up instead of making ignorant comments?? By using your own logic, then clinton sent soldiers to die in an "illegal war". Also, it wouldnt be nessecary for Republicans to "invent" Clinton, because of the fact that liberals say so many idiotic things, we dont need to "invent" anyone.

I'm registered with "No Political Affiliation" myself.

It may just be my opinion, but I'm not one to believe that any "liberals" OR "conservatives" really exist anymore.

Instead of giving our liberties and freedoms back, they only pull out a new tax, fee, surcharge, or restriction of some small, insignificant, thing, that just adds yet another straw on the camels back.

All you have shown is that Clinton only cared about his lil' guy. Bush cares about global democracy. Why would deomcrats do if they did not have bush to kick around! They have no platform of their own. Its all just "I hate Bush." Ask any dem if we should leave Iraq, and the answer is "Wahhh, he lied!" You prove the point.
