Yeah, I bookcrossed for a while, but now I have no books left! It can be quite an expensive enterprise.
I left them in cafes, public transport, park benches allsort of places. A lot of books I read were bookrings and rays by other members.

thats right you register the book and the website gives you a BCID number you attach this humber to the book with a note giving the bookcroosing web page and when someone finds the book the go to the website and type in the BCID number and you can track how many people have "caught" the book and what they thought of it... if you want to swap books there is a website called www.readitswapit.com that you can swap books with people that way you are getting a book you would like to read in return for your book instead of getting nothing

This idea started with the Celestine prophecy set of books and the idea is you leave a book you have read where someone else can find it and read it and hopefully do the same.
I've left many a good paperback on park benches for somebody else to read.

Bookcrossing is AMAZING. You got the idea. I left a book in a movie theater bathroom once, and several outside on benches, and one in a park, and someone from OHIO picked it up and read it on the plane!!!

I've kidnapped a few bookcrossing books! They tend to be ones I pick up in boxes of second hand books I buy.
A much better idea is to join a swapsite, I've blogged about a uk one recently. You can get to this blog here - http://thebookgarden.blogspot.com/2007/08/what-to-do-with-those-old-books-cds.html

I did not know about registering the book on the internet but I have left books with a note sticking out saying 'Please take me if you would like to read me then pass me on'.
I've left them in all sorts of places including a cruise ship.

Instead of that, I recommend www.booksforsoldiers.com. There are people in Iraq who would love to have books to read. Send them a couple. It isn't very expensive and you can make a new friend. Pax - C

i used bookcrossing. i've got purely dropped books, never got here upon them. i've got purely ever had certainly one of my seven books picked up & commented on via yet another reader. as for searching, you may ask in the event that they got here upon it - they could have it of their misplaced & got here upon questioning that somebody forgot it.
