I feel the same way you do. While I do not think I would get an abortio if I got pregnant accidentaly, like some people do. I do think there are certain cases where abortion may be the better thing. Like you said if a young teenager was raped, birth would be hard on her, and could damage her body, as well that chances of the baby surviving isn't high. And while its easy for some people to say, "Well she could have put the baby up for adoption." There are so many children who are in adoption centers for the better part of their life, its not that simple, it never is.
Also, if abortions were outlawed, that wouldn't stop them fro happeneing, You know as well as anyone ese does that people who didn't want children would find a way to get an abortion, a doctor who already knows how would do it on the side for extra money. And more unwanted babies would be born, because if they dont want the baby, an abortion may be better that letting them live through the hell of being unwanted.
As for if the mother knows the baby will have som sort of mental problem, they may or may not get an abortion. I'm not sure I agree with that one, if my baby was going to have a mental problem, I would still love him/her just as much as I would if he/she didn't. I don't see it as they';r elacking something, its just something that defines who they are, and it was supposed to happen or else it wouldn't have. They will still affect the world, no matter who they become.
I hope this helped.
Bye

It's all about when life begins. How far back do you want to go? Is a condom preventing life too? The reason it's not illegal is because, I, most of america, and thankfully the supreme court all agree that life doesn't begin at conception. Most people agree that an early term abortion is murder in the same way that masturbation makes someone a serial killer. I don't know if Dr. Phil is pro choice or not but I like one of his quotes for this scenario. When he was talking to a woman about her husband's new mustache the woman said, "I just don't like a mustache." Dr. Phil replied, "Fine, then don't wear one." Do you get where I'm going with that?

I don't believe in abortion personally, but if a woman wishes to have one it's between her and her partner.
Making a law to end abortion will never work obviously because if a woman wants one, she'll find a way.
So I can't agree with making abortion illegal, because there's no point.
What I'd like to see is more education for young girls and boys, and more understanding from the community.
Make it easier for a young girl to go to a doctor to get a script for the pill without the girl feeling ashamed of the fact that she's sexually active.
Make it easier and stress the importance for young men to take control of their part as well by stressing the need for them to use protection.
Parents need to realise that it's a fact of life nowadays that people are becoming sexually active at a younger age.
Shaming and ignoring the problem won't make it go away.

I was thinking on this topic just today. Was going to pose making abortion illegal as a way of legislating morality.
This is an ongoing debate. Lots of studies, lots of emotions, lots of ranting.
It's one of those neither side will EVER agree on, and so it is up to legislaters and judges to protect the rights of every individual.
So the argument boils down to: should the law recognize a fetus as an individual whose rights should be protected.
1. Does life begin at conception? The potential for life absolutely does.
2. Does life begin when brain waves are detected in the fetus? This is how the law currently defines when someone is legally dead.
3. Does a fetus become a citizen under the law when it is viable outside the mother's womb?
In the end, our current society is not prepared to take on the responsibility of every unwanted pregnancy. Not financially, medically or emotionally.
Men really are not held as accountable for the child as the mother.(Yes men, child support laws, visitation rights - different i-s-s-u-e.) READ MY NEXT STATEMENT:
There are no laws under consideration to govern mens' reproductive rights. Not "dead beat dads" - I USED QUOTES TO ACKNOWLEDGE NOT ALL DADS-, not men who are "players," not even for self admitting child molesters is there any real debate about legislating their reproductive rights.
When abortion was illegal, it did not stop it. It created an environment where those who could afford it got safe ones, those who couldn't were left to coathangers and bleach. If it becomes illegal again, it won't stop it.
The only hope one has in making their opinion count is to vote and join marches and other protests. Or being able to afford a good lawyer.
deep breath, ..... submit

would you feel that it would be ok for someone to kill you ? why should anyone have the right to kill another human being for any reason ? ( especially a life that is totally and completely innocent of all wrongdoing ) if the mother does not want to give the child up for adoption then she is a selfish , hateful person . even if a woman is raped then how is killing an innocent baby going to solve anything ? which is worse , rape or murder ? and it does not matter what anyone may try to convince you of , it is murder .

I am pro-choice. I remember the days when abortion was illegal. Women and young girls were getting what was known as "back alley abortions" and dying in the thousands. A horrible, painful, unnecessary death. I don't want it used as a birth control method. Young girls, rape victims, clear cases of severe birth defects, and incest should be the only criteria for a legal abortion.

I am pro-life, but they are exceptions rape, disease,... think that is it. I am guy though to, so I don't have say on this issue.
However, most people use abortion as a form of birth control, because they were to irresponsible to use other forms of birth control. Sex has become so recreational these days, people forget sex is meant for reproduction.
To my knowledge I don't know of any state that has a law against abortion. It has always bothered me that if you kill a pregnant lady, you are usually charged with the murder of the unborn child.

i think that it is the mothers decision. i don't like it and would never under any circumstances have one, but some think that they have no other choice. they will have to deal with God. We cannot judge them only He can. If they can sleep at night then it is up to them.
I just think that it is not fair for woman like me to not be able to have children while woman are aborting them everyday. That seems a littlr unfair, but God has some person for my life.

Pregnancy is caused by a well known activity.
Women who demand the ability to legally have an abortion are simply demanding to be relieved of the responsibility for the choice to engage in sexual intercourse while at the same time, demanding the father be responsible IF the mother decides he should be. It is extremely hypocritical.
Women need to be responsible for their actions, not just men.
If the problem is one of legislating morality, then isn't homicide being illegal legislating morality also? How about rape? Robbery? Fraud? Indecent exposure?
Many women are in favor of abortion being a choice but are against smoking in public, which is also a choice.
