The state of intoxication.

A few years ago Arkansas had the worst highways..nothing smooth for more than 30 feet at a time....

Sun City has too many golf carts out on the roads right along with the cars and SUVs..hard to see them..that's Arizona

I find small town drivers are much worse than big city drivers for not using turn signals, turning from the wrong lane, driving while gawking at buildings, it's as if they were the only ones on the road and they had all the time in the world..no one else matters.. Think that's true in all states..

I have lived in 10 different states France and Germany. There are "challenged" drivers everywhere, Paris France was the worst. My three worst experiences in the USA are:
1) Georgia--Atlanta
2) Nebraska--Omaha
3) Florida--Orlando

Ohio/Michigan
The potholes are deadly, there are constantly orange barrels along the highways for no apparent reason and nobody working on anything - they claim to do a lot of "night construction" but I think that's code for "we're just putting these here to piss you off". When it rains everyones driving IQ drops 50 points.

Well they are pretty much the same, when you get around cities though is when it gets bad. I live in Florida and the traffic is not bad at all until you hit Orlando or Jacksonville, then it's unbearable. New York City is also terrible & Atlanta, Georgia is absolutely crazy.

I agree that intoxication is bad, but I would say unconsciousness.
Sorry, I misread the question. The worst state to drive in is in the US.

Mississippi. Everything out of the major towns is a twisting back road. It the trucks and 4x4's don't pop out around the corners on you. Some crazy driver is blowing past you on a dirt road kicking up rocks and dust.

Not to mention one of the towns is planned out in triangles! I would personally like to smack each and every person involved in the planning and execution of that one.

I personally think the worst place to drive in is West Virginia...and sadly i live there...but there are very many hills and you go over many of them and it messes with your ears. Also they dont really have speed limits they just go as fast as they want. And they dont stay in between the lines so its very unsafe. But thats just me!

California (especially Southern) ... worst drivers and worst traffic... hands down! If you need to be somewhere that should only take an hour ... you better leave at least 2 hours early or you'll never make it. People here have no idea how to drive in nice weather ... but if by chance it rains ... it's sheer and utter chaos.

Let me outta here ............. lol
