Why do Most Blacks act like they come from the Ghetto?

There was an interesting program on tv called "Black White". (see link below) Two families, with the help of professional makeup artists, changed races. The white family became black and vice versa.

At the beginning of the program, the white father seemed a little bit like a clueless jerk, and he kept telling the black father that all his bad attitude and anger towards whites was his fault. He told him that whites actually treat blacks very well.

Interestingly, we find out the white guy is completely right. They had several tests where the white guy (in black makeup) goes to the same stores that the angry black man went to, but he is treated very well. It turns out the black guy's defiant attitude and bad outlook was the problem. The white guy was completely vindicated.

Both of these families were suburban, but the black ones acted a bit ghetto (sometimes more than a little). I think they feel they are betraying their roots or something if they act white, like they are a sell-out to white culture.

I'm Ethiopian and I act the way I think is right to act depending on the situation. I don't try to act like I'm from the ghetto and I certainly do not have a wish to be white. I am happy with the person I am. In answer to your question people act in ways that they think are cool. Just like you see guys walking around with sagging jeans......or girls walking in shoes they are uncomfortable in.......or people saying what they don't mean because it's agreeable......they think it's "cool" what ever that means. Most of the people in America are obsessed with the idea of "cool" until they grow up enough to realize that its an empty concept. I'd also like to point out being cool is exclusively an American concept. So a better question would've been, Why do people feel they have to act a certain way to be cool? Why don't we realize that knowing who we are and acting like we know is right is what we should strive for? Answer me this.

I am not going to be able to answer this without sounding "Racist" to someone, but I assure you that is not the intent.

Most Blacks Do not act like they are from the "Ghetto". At least past a certain age. They act like intelligent professionals that they are.

The ones that do act that way are brainwashed into believing the underachievement is somehow cool and further expect the government to take care of them. IE Kanye West stupid statements.

Listen to Bill Cosby and Oprah sometime. They publicly say that it is ignorance for a black person to act " Ghetto" since that act is simply a portrayal of ignorance and little to no self respect.

Unfortunately, several younger people think ignorance is "cool" and further denigrate society with their ignorance and victimization

I think that it is a culture thing and they are simply trying to represent their heritage. That's my best guess. What really annoys me is when white people try to do that. But I know many black people that act normal and professional, so not every black person does that. But I see what you mean.

(Not trying to to racist or offensive to anyone) I think most of all is that the environment effects them a whole lot, Me as an example i am an asian, and people around me and my friends are all studying hard and all, so the environment molds you into who you are, no matter what race are you, depends on your friends parents and school teacher (everyone around you)
