Is it true that if something is funny, then something is not right or good?

I have wondered this and is it sad but true that if something is funny, then it usually means there is something not right about something.

i see what you mean, but its not always true
yes we laugh at someone/even ourselves tripping, but we also laugh at things that are just humorous, and sometimes it gets blurred, say if someone who stole my car then crashed into a police car and got arrested, that is good and right, in a way, and i would find it funny, but yet it does have negative qualities

Not necessarily.

Humor is relative, and it has been clinically proven that we use humor as a social tool. For instance, you may laugh at something when with friends or other people that you would never laugh at if you were alone.

So, laughing at others' misfortune - especially with other people - may be a primitive instinct that allows you to ally with those with whom you are laughing against the one being laughed at... which yes, is sad and barbaric but we are nevertheless primitive creatures.

However, something doesn't have to signify others' misfortunes just to be funny. A pun on words, for instance can be very humorous to some because it is logical in an illogical way etc., and to us that kind of thing can be entertaining.

So yes and no to your answer, but often times, yes. Just remember that "right" and "good" are often relative to different cultures and people.

The comedian either points out some one else to laugh at or laughs at himself.

It's easy to score points from someone else's misfortune - a clever comedian uses himself as the butt of the jokes like Billy Connolly does.

There is humour within every situation if you look for it.
Even 9/11 had jokes within hours of the crash. That is usually referred to as Black Humour.
