Seems like cell phones completely replaced that one.

I carry a pager every day. But then again, you can't use a cell phone in most parts of a hospital.
Plus.... if someone cals me, I almost always answer without looking at the caller ID. If I get a page, and I don't want to talk to that person... I don't call them back. Pagers have benefits.

yes they stil have pager around however it not popular anymore because it is being replace by cell phone cause they ae getting cheaper Not only hospital but jail too for officer who need them if something comes up. the cell phone messed up the communication center and officer who are caught for allowing prisoner to use a cell phone to make phone calls. state prison now allowing anyone with cell phone anymore so just pagers.

At work I have to carry a pager,1- 2 cell phones and a Vocera badge, which is a little bit like a walkie talkie worn around the neck. It can get crazy sometimes when everything is going off. It is really interesting if you have to go to the bathroom....

Yes, every now and then I still see people with pagers on their belts. However, like you said, the are slowly being replace by the cell phone.

I also know of a lot of trucking companies that use them for communication with their drivers. Pagers are a lot less likely to be abused for personal use than a cell phone. But there are pro's and con's to both.

my stepdad does, he's a doctor and they need to cause you don't get cell phone reception in hospitals and you can't use cell phones anyway

I don't think so I still see them in some stores but don't ever see anyone with one .. :)
