Why don't the Yankees let Joba Chamberlain pitch back to back days? I don't get that.

Some pitchers can pitch every day. Others can't. Joba has only been in the farm system for a few years. The Yankees don't know what type of pitcher they have yet. So, they work him in slowly, letting him pitch a little more each season. They can't just, all of the sudden, increase his workload and risk destroying an arm that shows so much promise.

a pitcher has a fragile arm to every manager these days. They need rest. But, bullpen pitchers and closers pitch back-to-back,right?yes.veterans/needed now pitchers(with exceptions)
The Yankees pitching staff is slim because of ALL the injuries, and if Joba gets hurt, every Yankee aspect (players, front office,fans..)might also feel the pain.

I heard an interview with Cashman and he said that Joba "came with instructions" that is there is a set of rules about how the organization is to use him.

Basically he is a starter who has never relieved before. They don't know how he would hold up to being used in certain situations such as back t- back days and they don't want to ruin the arm of someone who they target being an ace starter in the future.

For the same reason we didn't let Zumaya pitch back to back for the first part of the 2006 season.. He's a young hot prospect, and they are protecting the future.. not burning out an arm before it has time to develope..

It don't matter what they let this Joba guy do. The Indians are going to take those damn Yankees apart. Go Tribe.

Because hes a kid, they need to rest him!

Imangine if he gets some injury like Carl Pavano and is out for a year? That would suck for the Yankees!

When you let someone pitch two days in a row, they get tired easily and begin to perform worse and worse, even if they get a break once every few days.

He's young and dont wanna rush him into the bigs like they did with Hughs, and look what happened, he got injured. And he would tire easy.
