The other people were right, but I'll explain it a little more. You can get a piece of hardware and a software program that will let you do that. Try going to http://shop.ati.com/product.asp?sku=3055145 that is the kind of thing you need. It's a tuner for your computer, so you can plug in your cable TV and a program on your computer will show the TV channels on your computer.

Not that way. the way you can do this is if you have a moniter and a tv tuner. You would prolly want a USB 2.0 Based TV tuner. you plug one side in to your computer and in the other you plug that cord from your tv(not sure what its called) into the other side. also there are different types that allow you to plug video game consoles into your computer and play them.

The answers with "no" is limited to what can be bought in a North American market, the actual answer is yes, North Americans perhaps prefer full tuner cards instead of VGA-adapter tuner boxes but such non-computer solution exist elsewhere I've brought one for myself to Canada, it works fine except after reset the tuner falls back to its Taiwanese preset.

If it doesn't have a TV tuner inside it won't work. You can get a TV card for your PC (or PVR to record to avi, mpg, etc) and then connect your computer and watch cable if there's a live feed.
