1) Read, study, practice and get involved in as many ways as you can find.
2) Study some more! (I highly recommend the Stella Adler Technique but try a bunch and use what works for you)
3) Get some headshots done. Send them out with a resume and cover letter to agents/theater co's and such in your area.
4) Keep studying
5) Make phone calls to the people you sent headshots to just to introduce yourself and make them remember you. Ask if you can come in and read for them or just meet.
6) Never forget this is a business and its not all about talent but good business sense as well.

Well, it is not quite so simple as 1,2,3. However, there are things you can do to prepare and to further your desire to be an actor. What you should be doing next depends on what you have done and how old you are and what city you are in.
