burning desire is not a strong enough term. i don't think you understand this type of intensity.

I wouldn't necessarily call it a "burning desire", but perhaps in my case it's more of a behavioral priority I feel an obligation toward.

There are certain people in our lives that I feel we should strive and even go out of our way to please, some for social or compassionate reasons...like our spouse, girlfriend/boyfriend, our friends, our relatives and so on...
and then, for practical, business or just simply humanistic reasons...our bosses and other superiors, co-workers and others we come in contact with during the course of our day.

If someone we know is genuinely pleased or satisfied with our performance or behavior (and we with theirs) then all negativity or "bad vibes" is diminished or removed entirely from the relationship, which then makes for a much more comfortable co-existence.

This is sometimes called a disorder; the pleaser. Yet one day you will get tired of pleasing everyone at work at home, in the family, etc...You will get burned out. You cannot be everything to everyone. You will find out in life that no matter what you do, most of the time it will not be appreciated. After a few hundred ties of doing it...you'll figure that out the hard way. There is always something new and exciting that you cannot compete with. Just accept yourself for who you are and do the best that "you" can do...but within limits.

not always. generally this type of desire arise the moment it is mutual. right now being alone, this burning desire, as you name it, faded away, unfortunately for my X

and the q is not properly put, not "someone" but 'THE ONE"....we should talk about the partner of ours.

my bf has that desire towards everyone. He never puts himself first, which is a good quality to have but also leaves him feeling like a doormat at times

Yes, on a daily basis. I hope and wish everyone else felt the same way, then we all would be a little bit more thoughtful at least!
