the sum of three consecutive odd integers is 57 what are the integers????

How would i find the inverse function of f(x)=3x-4
is the inverse a function and why?\

what is the remainder when you divide (x^3+2x+1) by (x-3)

for the first rpoblem, just express the 3 consecutive odd integers in variables. say the three are x-2, x and x+2.
note that odd numbers differ by 2. Then, adding the three gives us the equation:
x-2+x+x+2 which is equal to 57. The equation now becomes 3x=57. from here, x=19. Substituting the value of x gives us the three conecutive odd integers 17,19 and 21. checking, we arrive at 57.

for number 2, the idea of inverse function is simply interchange x and y and solve for y. f(x)=3x-4. is also y-3x-4. interchanging x and y, we have x=3y-4. Solving for y, we have:
x+4=3y, y=(x+4)/3. it is the inverse of the function. and we know that it is a function because it is a line or rather linear.
We know that it doesnt have restrictions.

For number 3, just use remainder theorem. If you have a polynomial P(X) and is divided by x-a, the remainder is denoted by P(a). So from the above, just substitute x=3 to the polynomial yielding 3^3+2(3) +1 = 34 thus, the remainder is 34. there you go! i hope i've helped u :D

Consecutive odd intergers

let

x = the first integer

x + 2 = The second integer

x +4 = The third intege

57 = The total consecutive odd integers

- - - - - - - -

x + x + 2 + x + 4 = 57

3x + 6 = 57

Transpose 6

3x + 6 - 6 = 57 - 6

3x = 51

3x / 3 = 51 / 3

x = 51 / 3

x = 17

- - - - - - -

The first integer is 17

- - - - - - --

x + 2

17 + 2 = 19

The second integer is 19

- - - - - - - -

x + 4

17 + 4 = 21

The third integer is 21

- - - - - - - - -

The consecutive off integer are

17, 19 and 21

17 + 19 + 21 = 57
